Selena Gomez becomes a billionaire aged 32 after clever business idea

Selena Gomez is 'slaying' her way to billionaire status after achieving the incredible milestone aged just 32.

The Only Murders in the Building actor who rose to fame on the Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place is now worth a whopping $1.3 billion (£990 million).

As well as being a successful singer and the most followed woman in the world on Instagram, Selena has got involved in a number of business ventures on the way.

In 2020, she launched Rare Beauty and has now become one of the 'youngest female self-made billionaires', according to Bloomberg.

The brand emphasises mental health awareness and inclusivity, as well as cosmetics.

Her stake in the company, which is known for their liquid blush and lip products, is estimated to be over a billion dollars.

And over 80 percent of her wealth is reportedly from Rare Beauty.

Speaking about the company in 2023 on KIIS-FM, she said: “I really tried my hardest to create a product that were beyond just me putting my name on something.

“I wanted the products to be great, and I also wanted the message to be that makeup is meant to be fun.”

However, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August, she claims that acting will always be her main priority.

“Acting has, and will always be, my heart,” the Emmy-nominated star - who features in Only Murders In The Building alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short - said.

“There’s so much that I want to do and that I haven’t even scratched the surface of, and it’s exciting to me.”

On season four of the show, which dropped earlier this month, she added: "I think this is our most exciting season yet.

She is the most followed woman in the world on Instagram (@selenagomez/Instagram)

"That’s what I would definitely say with confidence, because it was far too fun. How it came together was so magical.

"Everyone had a blast. And people are in for a ride, you know. Taking us to L.A. and then doing all the other stuff is exciting.

"It’s going to be, to date, probably my favourite season."

Season four follows the aftermath of Sazz's murder, Charles' (Steve Martin) former stunt double played by Jane Lynch.

We get to find out whether Sazz was the intended target or if the true aim was Charles.

This comes after the trio heads to Hollywood, where a movie adaptation of their podcast is in production.

The likes of Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, and Zach Galifianakis all feature, as well as Meryl Streep, who appeared in season three.

Couple's gender reveal goes horrifically wrong on doorbell cam video
The unfortunate gender reveal blunder was caught on camera

This article contains affiliate links and LADbible Group might make a commission on anything purchased.

Smart doorbells come with a number of handy uses — from being able to answer the door from any room in your home to dealing with parcel deliveries when you’re not in.

But there's one particular model that's captured unexpected moments time and time again - and it recently captured a rather unexpected family moment.

The doorbell, from Ring, is one of the most popular models on the market and has currently got a whopping £30 off.

Let’s just say, the gender reveal in question didn’t exactly go to plan and it was all recorded on their doorbell for our viewing pleasure.

When Simon and Bronagh Laverty from Craigavon, Northern Ireland were getting ready to host their friends and family at their home to share whether they were expecting a baby girl or a baby boy, they enlisted the help of a balloon packed full of either pink or blue confetti to do so.

But, as the clip captured by their doorbell showcased, their balloon burst suddenly just as the father-to-be was walking out the front door of their home. And the telltale blue confetti that escaped from it spoiled the surprise for them prematurely.
Ring

Not only did Simon now know that he and his wife were expecting a baby boy but Bronagh also found out the gender in real time after receiving a motion detector alert from Ring on her phone.

Simon explained that his wife immediately called out to him, “What just happened?! Have we literally just found out what we’re having?”

He recalled that even though he was going through a number of different emotions after seeing the balloon pop, he was both happy and relieved to find out that his wife had seen the reveal as well.

Simon shared: “We look back at the video all the time, it gives us a laugh about what happened and how we found out. Catching it on camera was even more special than doing it in front of friends and family as we can keep and cherish it.”
Ring

He did, however, rush out to get a new balloon so as not to spoil the surprise for their closest friends and family.

“To be honest we had to play along with the whole thing and make sure no one else knew that we found out before the new balloon had popped, as we didn’t want to ruin the surprise for everyone else,” he affirmed.

The couple’s loved ones also found it incredibly funny after they eventually saw the clip.

As Simon and Bronagh were subscribed to one of Ring’s subscription plans, this meant that they could download, save and rewatch the footage for up to 180 days after the unexpected incident.

And the happy parents can’t wait to show their son Theo – who will be three in November – the video one day.

“It will be good for the wee man when he’s older to show him and say ‘This is how we found out what you were going to be'!” Simon told Ring.

'Genuine' Gordon Ramsay praised after 'catching' Selena Gomez cooking error
The cooking maestro welcomed the award winning singer onto his YouTube cooking channel

Gordon Ramsay is known for his fiery temper when it comes to running a restaurant: just ask pretty much everyone who appeared on fan favourite Kitchen Nightmares.

The world-renown chef, who boasts 17 Michelin stars, has a reputation for being a perfectionist when it comes to all things food.

And if you can't keep up with his timings or quality, he'll let you know about it. Again, Hell's Kitchen viewers will attest to that.

But one of his more recent ventures has shown off a softer side to the 57-year-old dad-of-six.

Over on YouTube, Chef Ramsay recently launched a new mini-series called Scrambled.

The focus of the show is his love of scrambled eggs - and more importantly, doing them properly as part of an amazing egg-based dish.

But Ramsay's particular way of making the dish almost came apart in a recent episode, starring music superstar, Selena Gomez.

The Scot has a particular method when it comes to making a good batch, and it starts with six eggs cracked into a pan.

This is followed by four knobs of butter, to help them get creamy before adding crème fraiche.

Gomez was given the job of prepping the dish, cracking them one by one into the pan.

But with the pair chatting away about their favourite foods to eat when on the road, the singer gets a little distracted when counting exactly how many eggs she's cracked, with a grand total of nine in the pan.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice Ramsay clock her over-cracking.

And instead of going all 'idiot sandwich' on the pop star, Ramsay decides to think on his feet. After a bit of quick maths, he asks her to add another two knobs of butter to keep the consistency on point.

The chef was praised for how kindly he handled the situation.

One person commented: "I love how Gordon catches Selena putting in nine eggs instead of the six he asked, but instead of pointing it out, he just asks her to put in an additional two knobs of butter to compensate."

A second said: "I had to stop and ask 'wait, did he want six total or six more', haha."

"All that filming experience and keeping the pacing going put to good use."

Another said: "I love how he asked for six eggs and she proceeds to crack eight more for a total of nine."

Fans were impressed by Ramsay's softer approach and general kindness towards Gomez - something they're not used to seeing on Hell's Kitchen.

One said: "Gordon is honestly such a sweet guy who really cares about his craft. You gotta respect that. Whenever he does get mad you can tell he’s doing it through passion."

Thanks to Gordon's quick butter recalculation, the scrambled eggs came out looking lush with salt, pepper and chives added at the end.Featured Image Credit: @gordonramsay / YouTube

Dragons' Den entrepreneur who was ‘humiliated’ by Dragons went on to make millions off business idea
Not everyone gets an investment but some still go on to be a roaring success.

An entrepreneur who went onto Dragons' Den in the hopes of securing funding for his dog poop scoop claimed he was 'humiliated' by the investors during his time on the show.

Back in 2017, John Nicholls appeared on the show to try and get £45,000 of funding for a 15 percent stake in HandiScoop, which he said was 'the world's best poop scoop'.

However, he claimed that when he stepped out of the room with no investment Dragons' Den host Evan Davis said he thought 'they were quite hard on you', though John said he didn't regret going on the show.

In an interview with The Sun, he said that when things went against you on the show 'the Dragons hunt like a pack' and you really feel like it's 'five of them versus one of you'.

In particular, he called out long-time Dragons' Den investor Peter Jones, claiming that the businessman's behaviour put him off during his pitch which he said didn't go so well as he was 'very nervous'.
BBC

"When you're pitching he's messing around with things and it's almost like he's trying to put you off, which can be quite intimidating," John claimed of trying to pitch his poop scoop to Jones.

"He had his hands in his face, he rolled his eyes and while everyone else was taking notes he was playing with a sample."

During the episode, Jones told him he was 'trying to wing an investment' while Touker Suleyman called him 'uninvestable'.

In the end, John left Dragons' Den with none of the investment money he'd been looking for, but has since gone on to enjoy success with his HandiScoop product racking up £1.74 million in sales and him shifting over 100,000 of the things.

The poop scoop basically allows you to pick up your pet's droppings and deposit them in a bag without having to put your hands onto the faeces themselves.

John also claimed that there were two exchanges between himself and Jones which apparently didn't make it into the episode.
Instagram/@handiscoop

"He had a bit of a go at me. When I was struggling to remember something, I said ‘I’m sorry but I’m dyslexic’ and he said, ‘So am I', John claimed of one of the interactions.

"Then he had another go and started criticising me. I was explaining how useful my device would be if you had to pick up sloppy poo." he also claimed.

"I asked him how he would scoop it up with a normal bag, which can be messy and not pick it all up, and he shouted, ‘I’d just leave it’.

"I was surprised by his response, he was very aggressive. You don’t think that’s going to happen when you go to pitch.

"It made me realise he would be the last person in the world I would want to be in business with."

Fortunately for John, he's joined the ranks of entrepreneurs who walked away from Dragons' Den empty-handed and still made a success of it.

Eddie Redmayne set to earn £1,000,000 per episode for upcoming thriller series
Eddie Redmayne stars as a cold-blooded assassin in the upcoming Sky Atlantic series

If you see Eddie Redmayne eating caviar for breakfast, lunch and tea or heading on serious shopping sprees all of a sudden, it might be because his astronomical wages for his latest role have just landed in his bank account.

If the rumours are true, the actor, 42, will be absolutely rolling in it when he cashes his cheque for starring in Sky and Peacock's upcoming thriller series, which is set to be released later this year.

The seasoned screen star - best known for his roles in Les Misérables, The Theory of Everything, The Danish Girl and the Fantastic Beasts film series - is supposedly being paid a whopping £1,000,000 per episode for the gig.

So the drinks are on Redmayne, everyone. Rack 'em up!

Everything's coming up Eddie (oto by Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Tony Awards Productions)

He will star as a ruthless British assassin in The Day of the Jackal, which retells the story of Frederick Forsyth’s classic 1971 novel of the same name.

Cinema fans might recall that a movie about the chilling book was produced back in 1973, starring Edward Fox and Michael Lonsdale, but now the terrifying tale will finally be on our TVs.

Take a look at the trailer here:

The official synopsis from Sky reads: "An unrivalled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal, makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee.

"But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake."

Redmayne, who is also serving an executive producer on the series, will play the villainous Jackal opposite Lashana Lynch in the new show which reimagines Forsyth’s hit novel in a modern day setting.

And according to the Mirror, much like his character, the Brit will also be making an absolute killing thanks to The Day of the Jackal.

Redmayne is reportedly going to scoop £10 million for the ten episodes - but it does sort of make sense.

The show, which is said to be Sky's most expensive series ever, has a hefty budget of £100 million as its creators have got their fingers crossed that it will be a global hit as it's being streamed on Peacock too.

So it's no wonder they didn't want to skimp on the talent, to be fair.

A source told the publication: "Many TV companies and broadcasters are struggling with budgets being squeezed, but not with high-end drama for a global audience involving the streamer.

"If you can do a deal with one of them, you can absolutely break the bank."

The Day of the Jackal is being produced for Sky and Peacock by the production company behind Downton Abbey, Carnival Films, while Top Boy writer Ronan Bennett is behind the script.

Carnival Films CEO and executive producer Gareth Neame said they were 'incredibly fortunate to have an actor of Eddie’s calibre as our Jackal', while praising the 'first-class creative team' working on the series.

Plenty of familiar faces will make an appearance in The Day of the Jackal too, as the cast includes the likes of Money Heist and Snatch star Úrsula Corberó, Game Of Thrones actor Charles Dance, as well as The Walking Dead alum Eleanor Matsuura.

Redmayne previously revealed that he used the one and only David Bowie as his muse while undergoing his transformation into the Jackal.

Speaking of how he mastered his character's facial expressions with movement coach Alex Reynolds, he said: "We found this brilliant interview of David Bowie back from the 70s or 80s, a rare occasion in which he was interviewed just as himself rather than any huge costumes.

"He was talking about using costume and makeup and personas as a disguise to mask himself. That was intriguing."

The Day of the Jackal is set to drop on Sky Atlantic and Now on 7 November, so get that date in your diaries if you want to watch Redmayne's multi-million pound performance.

Sky declined to comment on speculation surrounding the star's earnings.

LADbible has contacted Eddie Redmayne's representatives for a comment.
