Man rewatching Titanic in stitches at ‘worst CGI in cinema history’

About 27 years ago Titanic was released and spawned a billion conversations about whether two people could fit on a floating door.

Of course it's not really a matter of space, it's far more to do with buoyancy as the MythBusters demonstrated and Kate Winslet has also pointed out.

Hell, James Cameron even did some 'scientific tests' to figure out whether Jack and Rose could both have survived and it turns out the answer is no, the wreckage would only take one of them.

Anyhow, while the movie is still a stone-cold classic there are inevitably going to be some things about it that don't hold up, and we're not talking about Leonardo DiCaprio dating someone his own age.

No, over the years a number of Titanic viewers have poked fun at some of the conspicuously 90s CGI used in the film, and one scene in particular.

It looks a bit like the work on The Polar Express if someone zoomed out (20th Century Fox)

Titanic uses a lot of practical effects to an impressive extent, but there's obviously a bit of movie razzle dazzle thrown in there.

Early on in the film there's a point where the razzle doesn't quite dazzle, as Jack (DiCaprio) and his buddy Fabrizio (Danny Nucci) enjoy looking out from the bow of the ship and the camera pans across the Titanic.

However, as it does this all the people visible on deck are CGI, and looking back at them now they're quite conspicuously naff.

Over the years plenty have had a decent laugh at this scene saying it gives them a 'good chuckle', looks like 'some GTA San Andreas s**t' and that the characters walk 'like a Skyrim NPC'.

One guy recently posted the scene again and called it 'the worst piece of CGI in cinema history' as he couldn't help but crack up at it.

In fairness to Titanic's somewhat silly CGI it is getting to be almost 27 years old and it's one short shot in the film.

Is it really worse than this? (Universal)

Besides, it's not really the worst CGI in cinema history, that dubious accolade has surely got to go to The Scorpion King being rendered as an early PS2 character in The Mummy Returns.

These days The Scorpion King would probably look a lot better and they'd mount Dwayne Johnson atop some green-screen rig so we'd at least see his actual face.

Also, The Mummy Returns released four years after Titanic so it hasn't got much of an excuse.

However, the incredible CGI dinosaurs of Jurassic Park puts both movies to shame, Steven Spielberg gave us fricking DINOSAURS in 1993 and Titanic couldn't make a man walking look very realistic.

Any credit James Cameron might have lost as a director for this one slightly goofy looking scene is surely outweighed by pretty much every other effect from every single one of his other films.Featured Image Credit: 20th Century Fox

People say they can ‘punch through walls’ after trying ‘magic’ mushroom coffee
The adaptogen coffee is going down a treat with Brits.

This article contains affiliate links and LADbible Group might make a commission on anything purchased.

We like our morning cup of coffee to pack a bit of a punch but when we spotted that a certain blend caused someone to profess that they could ‘punch through walls,’ ‘run on water’ and ‘levitate,’ we obviously had to find out more.
Demi Deherrera/ Unsplash

And what if we told you that it featured some ‘magic’ mushrooms? No, not that kind, but the type that help you focus and improve your energy and mood with none of the typical jitters or restlessness that you can often get from traditional coffee beans?

Enter Orange County’s Brain Food Coffee. And there’s currently a way to try it out for less, while also getting a few freebies too.
Nathan Dumlao/ Unsplash

Normally priced at £29.99, the 200g Starter Kit Bundle of their Brain Food Coffee should give you enough for 30 servings. But you can save 20% simply by signing up for their subscription, which in turn takes the price down to £23.99.

Add in the free hand whisk and tote bag that you get with your first order and it’s well worth giving it a go, particularly if you’ve been interested in dabbling in nootropics.

But how does it work exactly? And what sort of ingredients does it include? Buckle up...
Orange County
What ingredients does it include?

Nootropics are a bit of a buzz word at the moment but if you’ve not heard of them before, they are essentially supplements that are designed to help improve bodily functions such as attention, memory and focus.

And Orange County’s coffee is infused with nootropics such as Lion’s Mane mushroom, Rhodiola Rosea and L-theanine.

The first ingredient is believed to stimulate the production of nerve growth factor in the brain to help maintain and grow neurons, while the herb Rhodiola Rosea is a de-stressor and is thought to balance cortisol levels in the body.

The last of these three nootropics, L-theanine, is actually already found naturally in tea leaves, with it having calming and relaxing properties.

There are also three additional mushrooms in this blend, in addition to the Lion’s Mane variety, with this superfood making up around 4,000mg in each serving. But thankfully shoppers haven’t been able to taste anything resembling what you might think of, when you think of mushrooms, when they brew up a cup. Just in case the thought of drinking mushrooms might have put you off slightly.

In addition to this, each cup of Brain Food Coffee contains 80mg of caffeine, with it being vegan friendly, gluten and sugar free, if you have specific dietary requirements or are trying to cut back on your sugar intake.
What are customers saying?

With plenty of five-star reviews, happy shoppers have taken to the brand’s website in their droves to share their positive thoughts on the coffee blend.

One customer explained: “I use this every morning and have been for the past month. The increase in fitness, productivity, focus and decision making.

"My ability to perform under pressure has gone through the roof. I have less anxiety when facing challenges. This product is truly amazing and such a game changer.”

While another added: “Since drinking this AMAZING addition to the daily diet I find my energy levels are a lot more consistent, no crashing and I am no longer a coffee guzzler as this drink satisfies me and keeps me going and focused through the long shifts! Life changing.”

Netflix fans urged to watch movie with 'greatest plot twist in the history of cinema'
Despite the film being just a fun rom com, it's an absolutely shock

There always seems to be something new to watch on one streaming site or another.

From a ‘must watch’ comedy on BBC iPlayer to Netflix’s new sci-fi series, it just seems overwhelming to narrow down the newbies and pick one.

So, sometimes we just go for what we know and throw on a classic banger we already love.

And Netflix is absolutely brimming with those too, with viewers urging others to watch a movie with the ‘greatest plot twist in the history of cinema’.

Ok, so big film buffs might not be totally thrilled with that statement, but there’s no denying how much of a spin it really was when you first saw it.

One fan took to X to share a legendary clip as they wrote: “This is kinda the greatest plot twist in the history of cinema when you think about it.”

But is it the initial reveal of what really goes on at Saltburn? The magical tricks of Now You See Me? The realisation of Brad Pitt’s character in Fight Club?

Nope, It’s Crazy, Stupid Love, obviously.

The iconic film came out back in 2011 and stars the likes of Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Steve Carell.

The rom com follows Cal Weaver (Carell) after separating from his wife as he learns how to charm women.

And the man who teaches him all that is Jacob (Gosling), a womaniser. But he is shocked to be rejected by a woman, named Hannah (Stone).
Warner Bros

So, here comes the twist, Hannah ends up pursing Jacob and they begin to date and he finally gets all romantic. But when he goes to meet her parents, it turns out that, of course, her dad is Cal.

this is kinda the greatest plot twist in the history of cinema when you think about it.

and Aria 🏳️‍⚧️💕 (Drew Starkey’s version)

We don’t see as many rom-coms these days bc they’re afraid they’ll never top this scene pic.x.com/q8deuk8yeh

All of this results in a hilarious and legendary face-off and fight – with the involvement of some other blokes from tangled-up storylines like David, played by Kevin Bacon, who had been sleeping with Cal's wife (Julianne Moore).

And one user simply wrote on X: “We don’t see as many rom coms these days bc they’re afraid they’ll never top this scene.”

Another put: “The theatre was going nuts during this scene... it was such a plot twist.” Many called it ‘so chaotic’ and the ‘perfect scene’.

While others said: “Whenever I come across this scene, I will leave whatever I am doing and watch it. absolute GOAT plot twist. love it.”

With another echoing: “This whole movie is just perfection honestly.”

Dune’s new cinema popcorn bucket leaves people in disbelief
Cinemagoers are being provided with a Dune: Part Two promotional popcorn bucket ahead of the new film.

With Dune: Part Two almost upon us, dirty-minded cinemagoers are all thinking the same thing as their popcorn was served in a bizarre-looking promotional bucket ahead of the new film.

The first instalment of the Dune saga had huge success at the box office and was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, taking home six trophies, including Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Visual Effects.

Both Dune (2021) and Dune (1984) are adaptations of Frank Herbet’s 1965 novel of the same name, yet the 2021 film only covered events from the first half of the book.

So the upcoming sequel will depict what happens later in the epic novel.

Dune: Part Two will follow Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to get revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.

Atreides faces the impossible decision to pick between the love of his life and the fate of the universe, with the likes of Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Josh Brolin, Christopher Walken and Rebecca Ferguson starring alongside.

Music fans will also be delighted that Hans Zimmer will be returning in the sequel.

But fans' eyes have all on the same thing ahead of the upcoming release, after cinema-goers at AMC Theatres in the US were provided with a Dune: Part Two promotional popcorn bucket.

Looks rather bizarre, it's supposed to emulate the mouth of the sandworm monster.

However, dirty-minded social media users are likening it to a popular sex toy.

Warner Bros.

Taking to X (Twitter), people were comparing the tan-coloured box to a 'Fleshlight', a sex toy for men.

"I'm sure the replies will be chill and mature to this," one person commented.

"Dune 2? The only thing I care about is what I'm gonna be Dune 2 that popcorn bucket," another quipped.

"I just want to eat my popcorn not stick my hand in a monster Fleshlight," a third tweeted, while a fourth joked: "Babe are you ok?? You've barely f**ked your DUNE 2 promotional popcorn bucket."

"Another day working at the multiplex. Everyone keeps asking me if they can f**k the Dune 2 popcorn bucket," another said.

"Buddy, this is an AMC, of course you can f**k the popcorn bucket," an apparent cinema worker joked.

Others suggested that the film's marketing team knew what they were doing.

"My conspiracy theory is they knew and they're playing us like fiddles with all the free marketing and also money they're gonna make when we all buy this ironically," one conspiracy theory read.

Dune: Part Two is set for a 1 March release date in the UK.

LADbible has contacted AMC Theatres for comment.

Gruesome horror film has ‘most shocking’ opening scene in history
Horror fans think the 2002 Steve Beck-directed movie has the 'most shocking' opening scene ever

If a horror film isn't completely gruesome then is it really a horror film?

We've obviously had some classics over the years with The Shining, The Silence of the Lambs and Halloween, to name a few.

But after taking rank of the most terrifying movies, it's a film from 2002 that's been voted as having the most shocking opening scene of all time, according to ranker.com.

The opening scene really is horrifying. (Warner Bros.)

The Steve Beck-directed movie - set in the 1960s - follows a boat salvage crew in a remote region of the Bering Sea who discover the remains of a grand passenger liner that's been untouched for more than 40 years.

But once the crew embark on the ship they realise they are not alone.

Titled Ghost Ship, you can take a look at the eerier trailer below:

The film opens with a dance floor of people onboard a cruise ship as a live singer in a red dress takes to the stage.

Everyone is smiling, laughing and dancing - up until a wire cable suddenly snaps.

The wire falls through the crowd of people and cuts through all the surrounding area. Flowers, tables and hanging lights, are all chopped down.

However, in one shot filmed from the view of the cable, it shows that it slices through the actual passengers.

The film came out in 2002. (Warner Bros.)

As the guests on the dance floor look across, they realise that almost everyone was bisected by the wire.

Everyone is chopped to pieces apart from one girl, who screams after realising she is the only one who survived.

40 years later, when the boat is revisited, it seems that those who died may still be on board.

Despite a promising premise, the film only has a 37 percent audience score and a 15 percent Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Arguably the 'most shocking' opening scene of all time. (Warner Bros.)

One viewer thought: "After a truly sick and therefore awesome opening sequence this film degrades into a dull ghost romp lacking character and originality.

"The scares are badly realised and lacking fear. This should not be watched except for the excellent quote one hour into the proceedings 'Oh God you really are a funking ghost!'

"The ending was confusing and pointless. This is a very generic horror movie with a sick opening and dull ghost antics thereafter."

Someone else said it's a 'film that sets sail with the promise of thrills but quickly sinks like a rusty anchor'.

One Reddit user added: "The beginning of Ghost Ship really freaked me out when I was younger."

And another commented: "The opening of that film was almost perfect, and then... the rest of it happens."

If you're still up for giving it a watch though, the cast includes the likes of Gabriel Byrne as Sean Murphy, Julianna Margulies as Maureen Epps and Ron Eldard as Dodge.
